Would you like to avoid “website heartache”?
“Website heartache” is the name we have given to the condition that arises form spending precious resources (time and money) on a website that does nothing for your business. This 10-week business development course for small business owners, (particularly those who provide a professional service) teaches you how to set up a website that acts as a 24/7 virtual sales engine. While this is not a class in programming we will give you the information you need to work with a programmer efficiently or utilize a do-it-yourself download.
This course is appropriate for you if you:
- Are ready to put in the time and effort to (re) write the copy on your website.
- Have your service offering already defined and are in business (if you are just starting, in transition, or still clarifying/tweaking your offering that’s OK, but if you are still choosing between two or more very different offerings this is probably not the right course – please call and we’ll see if there is a match).
- Want to dramatically increase your income and your success and are ready to do the inner personal growth work to leave survival mode and other limiting mindsets behind.
- Are willing to do what it takes to not just pay someone to do it for you whatever the result. You are willing to invest the time in writing to get clear about the design of your business model.
- Are willing to spend at least three hours a week on your marketing (1 in class plus written work) and are willing, in addition, to take care of the technical aspect. This might mean working with a programmer or it might mean going through the frustration of figuring out new technology. We can make it pretty easy but at the end of the day it’s your responsibility.
- Are motivated to create a website that sings: a true expression of you, your voice, your bsuiness all presented in a way that engages prospects and helps them to decide to work with you.
Course Structure
“Websites that Sing” is a 10-week coaching program conducted with a group of professionals who are hungry to establish their business on a sound and profitable basis. If you would like to have a business that supports your “right work” in the world and become known in your field…maybe even become “just a little bit famous” then this is the right course for you. The course will guide you step-by-step through everything you need to do to create a virtual sales website that is also an authentic representation of your service.
The next “Websites that Sing” tele-class starts: Tuesday April 13th at 1:00 p.m.(PST). The class meets by teleconference/webinar every Tuesday after that, from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time, ending on June 15th, 2010. All sessions will be teleclasses conducted through a segmentable conference line with an additional sign in for a webinar line (to participate in small group discussions you must be on the conference line) and will be facilitated by Janet Schieferdecker and Amy Conger. All web presentations and large group discussions are recorded and posted to a web page where they are available to participants for review or make-up.
Putting this much attention on your business will get you results. Even if you can’t make every class, the work has been separated into very “do-able” chunk sizes, and revenue producing activities. The support of the group will get you great ideas of how to move forward with your business.
Training material: the class comes with a downloadable workbook. Ideally you will work with others in the course to complete this material.
Websites that Sing will be offered again beginning in September 2010.
Individual support is available for additional fees. There are three types of programs available – details below. Calling a course facilitator with a quick 10-minute question is not only OK, it is encouraged and is considered part of the program. We guarantee 24-hour response from Monday-Friday and 48-hour response on weekends. However, frequent calls of more than 15 minutes in duration or requests to edit copy will incur additional fees, you will be clearly informed if you are about to incur fees and given the choice of whether or not to proceed. In our experience most of your questions can and will be answered on the calls, and as the group shares information, resources and gives each other feedback you will have more than enough clarity and instruction.
Benefits of taking Websites that Sing
If you do the work and participate in the program you will have these things in place in 10 weeks:
- A website based on a Content Management System (like wordpress) to which you can add content or other media or otherwise update at will.
- Pages (like this one) describing each of your services, who they are for, what clients will get, why they should work with you and how.
- Increased clarity about your business, the design and business model of your service, and your target market. Through writing all this content (even if you hire a copywriter to clean it up later) you will become exceptionally clear about who you are serving and how your business makes money. This clarity alone often translates into increased business even if you never went live with your website.
- A 24/7 virtual sales website. Each page is designed to lead pospects through the same process you would take them through if you were having a sales call. The information can be so clear and compelling that many people have reported that their time spent on sales calls was radically reduced or even eliminated once they published their new website.
- A platform to host all the compelling media and information you will be having fun generating.
- Authentic presentation. A living and dynamic statement of who you are and how you do business that is aligned with your sense of purpose and passion.
The curriculum covers:
- Working with “ecology” (the internal reason we haven’t done something we think we want to do);
- Mindset Optimization;
- Identifying our sense of mission and purpose and expressing it in our business;
- Robert Middleton’s Marketing Ball;
- How sales process translates to web copy;
- Principles of good website design for a service business;
- Basics of key words and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) (our material);
- NLP techniques based on the work of Robert Dilts, Carl Buchheit, and our own innovations;
- Marketing Syntax and Core Marketing Message;
- The “Sales Funnel” and it’s relationship to good service design
We have received permission to use, and in some cases pay for all materials that are not our own intellectual property. If we use someone else’s ideas we endeavor to clearly cite the source. All materials are included in the course fees. All materials have been integrated and reproduced in one cohesive workbook that will act as your step-by-step implementation guide, where at each step you will be able evaluate your best option.

Tier one: Class only, just point me, I’m ready.
If you feel like you are ready to go, and just need the information and structure to get things done. This is your best option. There is no one-to-one component, only the group classes. If you hit a wall and need extra help you can always make an appointment with a course facilitator separately.
- $700 ($595 if payment is received before April 2nd).
Tier two: Class plus three 1-1 coaching calls (50 minutes each), I would like more attention from the facilitator on my business each month please.
* recommended
If you feel like you would like to brainstorm with a coach and increase the level of your accountability, and the input of ideas and feedback you can sign up for three individual 50-minute coaching calls.
- $955 ($850 if payment is received before April 2nd).
Tier three: The works, class, plus coaching, plus a website.
If you are ready to invest in a website and do not feel confident managing the process we will do it for you. This means we will work with you to generate the copy (you do still need to come to class and generate drafts), possibly hire a copywriter, and will hire a website designer and programmer and manage the process for you. Depending on the level of service you need and the level of skill you desire in a programmer we will create a custom program and negotiate a price. For your reference, we do charge for our time managing or coaching but we do not take a percentage of the fees charged by an affiliate designer, writer, or programmer.
- $2,455-10,455 (you must contact us before April 2nd).
