Like most changes, “success” in growing your business depends on your “self confidence”. By “self confidence” we mean your ability to trust and like yourself.  By “success” we mean doing what you set out to do as long as you still want to do it.  There are many activities you will be taking on as you create the business you would like to have, and some of them will be easy and some of them will be challenging.  Each new stretch involves learning.  Learning about how to do it technically and how to hold yourself emotionally to be effective in a new paradigm.

We work in partnership with our clients to provide the right kind of coaching (marketing tactics, personal, creative, and strategic leadership) at the time it is needed. No hype, practical solutions.

Begin by understanding where you are now, and eliminating the overwhelm. From the very beginning we will work together with you to discover where you are, and what needs doing. What has to come first, next and so on.  It is true that effective marketing has an order of events.  It is also true that people cannot make strategic, long-term decisions when there is a fire raging in their backyard.  We will strive to meet you where you are, and help you create a balance between long-term vision and short-term effective action.

Clarity + Aligned Action = Results. Early on in our relationship you will work on defining your strategic position.  It is the clarity and simplicity of this definition and its uses, that will enable you to build your marketing engine.  A well defined market position statement enables sound decisions and congruent action.  If you only seek clarity with no action you can end up in “analysis paralysis”.  Action with no reflection leaves you stymied in a different way.  Balancing between the poles can be frustrating in the beginning, can even feel like going backwards, but eventually leads to the place of maximum results as the vacillation gets smaller and smaller.

Imagine answering the question “what do you do?” in a way that consistently catches your prospects’ interest! Implementing proven and appropriate marketing strategies will give you new confidence when you present yourself.

There are better ways to do things. It is our job to know, and to teach you how marketing and business tools work, and which one to use when. Consultants and other service professionals can spend quite a bit of time and money on marketing and business development but not reap sufficient rewards. This is most often because they are not doing the simple things that will enable their prospects to know what to do next.  This is also because they are not establishing and working a system.  For example, it is not uncommon for service professionals to give presentations or to be part of a panel of experts, and to really “wow” their audience.  However, if they do not also consistently employ simple strategies to increase their database or to position their service offer… the “wow” is wasted.

Your time is your most precious resource. There is a certain aspect of marketing for services that is just about doing anything, seeing what works, and then continually tweaking to get better and better results.  However, taking advantage of known expertise and techniques shortens that cycle considerably, and removes the frustration.  Many of my clients find that, after the initial effort to build their marketing engine, they are actually spending less time on marketing but getting far superior results. This is the first part of systematic business development.
